Maintenance Technician
$31 to $35 per hour
Taunton, MA
1st Shift


Perform routine maintenance and repairs as needed to keep machines and mechanical equipment operating efficiently and in a safe manner. Coordinate with Plant Management to establish maintenance schedules on various machines to minimize downtime on production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician:
  • Support all safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives and policies.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures and instructions (Good manufacturing Practices, LOTO, Work Permits, etc.)
  • Create and manage work orders in L2L, conducting necessary maintenance or repairs as needed.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures at all times and ensure all Maintenance Personnel are following Lockout/Tagout procedures at all times.
  • Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals or parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Repair machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices.
  • Maintain constant communication with Plant Management regarding any maintenance issues that may arise so that Plant Management can adjust their production schedule accordingly.
  • Assist in the setup and teardown of machines and equipment at beginning and end of shifts.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Support all safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives and policies.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
  • 3 years experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Familiar with PM programs such an MVP or Leading to Lean.
  • Highly organized.
  • Highly motivated to strive for operational excellence and coach others.
  • Strong communicator both written and verbal.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Multitasker.
  • Interpersonal savvy works well with all types of people, cultures, and work ethics.
  • Knowledge and experience with food safety.
  • Strong comprehension on PLC, VFD, HMI, Boilers, Refrigeration, Pumps, Schematics and Pneumatics preferred.

Physical Demands:
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, and lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Most of the shift is on the floor and in the maintenance shop.

Work Environment:
  • Combination of Plant and Office Environment.
  • Regular exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold or chemicals.
  • Climate controlled plant.
