Position Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Manager is responsible for comprehensively managing and overseeing all installation, repair, and upkeep of the organization's facilities. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of employees, resulting in outstanding internal customer service and the attainment of department goals. As a key member of the company management team, the Maintenance Manager will be involved in strategic decision-making and succession planning, ensuring that decisions are based on the company's best interest, duties, and annual budget.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities of the Facilities Maintenance Manager
  • Fully understand the capabilities of all mechanics and foster an environment of coaching, development, and team building.
  • Provide continuous feedback to mechanics regarding performance, encouraging team development.
  • Coordinate, oversee, coach, and perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on the facility, mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems.
  • Manage, teach, and perform scheduled repairs, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Maintain and operate all HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical equipment, plumbing systems, building management systems, and building repairs.
  • Perform facility inspections and report on the conditions affecting operations.
  • Monitor and supervise HVAC preventive maintenance contracts.
  • Respond to facility, maintenance, and mechanical emergencies.
  • Review production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
  • Prepare and submit summary reports of building conditions and recommend actions to be taken.
  • Review and understand equipment and methods of operation, BMS system, fire/life safety, and other systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, city, and county ordinances and codes.
  • Attend annual training sessions, seminars, and relevant professional development.
  • Engage in strategic succession planning to ensure the development of a strong, capable team.
  • Other assigned tasks as requested.

Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities of the Facilities Maintenance Manager
  • Provide leadership and guidance to direct reports, including Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Mechanics, and Maintenance Apprentice Mechanics.
  • Collaborate with key employees in the production, warehouse, and shipping & receiving departments.
  • Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws.
  • Oversee team management and development efforts, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Encourage and support professional development opportunities for team members.

Qualifications of theFacilities Maintenance Manager
  • A BS in engineering from an accredited university/college or an equivalent professional with 10+ years' experience in the manufacturing industry/related experience is preferred.
  • 4+ years in maintenance management, supervisor, or senior-level role, with demonstrated experience in team supervision and strategic succession planning.
  • Electrical education or background is a plus.
  • Open to opportunities for professional development and interest in continuous learning.
  • Computer literate, with knowledge of the Internet, Spreadsheets, and Microsoft Operating System.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Standards, USDA, and SQF Regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Must work well with others and lead in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Must be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
  • Must motivate, train, and coach employees to encourage optimum performance and engagement.
  • Spanish language proficiency is preferred but not required.
