Supporting clean and well-maintained Public Commercial Facility with a new updated HVAC system.
The HVAC Mechanic works 40 hour per week on shifts from 7: 00 am to 4: 00 pm. In addition to working some overtime, s/he must be available to work occasional weekends and respond to off hour emergencies as and when needed.

Reporting to the Building Engineer, this position performs installations and preventative and corrective maintenance and repairs on a wide variety of HVAC equipment, oil burners, both residential and commercial, low-pressure commercial steam boilers and other mechanical plant equipment and systems.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES of the **Senior Facilities HVAC Mechanic**
- Installs heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, including controls and related fixtures such as air and water filters and piping by using refrigeration, pipe fitting and structural layout techniques, blueprints, appropriate machines, tools and work aids to join tubing and/or pipes;to cut and thread pipes;to solder or braze joints;to mount compressor and condenser units;and to connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls and circulating ventilation fans to electrical power sources.
- Checks equipment for malfunctioning by observing pressure and vacuum gauges and other indicators;by adjusting controls in testing joints and connections for gas leaks;by injecting refrigerant and adjustment valves, controls and pumps;and by using testing equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, amp probes, etc. To ensure proper operation.
- Maintains, rebuilds and repairs by replacing worn or defective parts such as switches, fuses, thermostats and electrical wiring;by pumping specified gas or fluids into systems;by adding necessary liquids;by lubricating motors and bearings;and by changing filters.
- Calculates heat loads for new installations;analyzes and treats both open and closed water systems such as cooling towers by adding algaecides to prevent the spread of airborne bacteria.
- Perform preventative maintenance and diagnostics on building automation systems and components in both critical and non-critical environments. Test and verify system readings ensuring optimal system operation.
- Performs related work such as making and assembling metal ducts and chassis parts for heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems;drilling holes for mounting brackets;screwing, boring, riveting and welding parts to assemble structural and functional components such as motors, controls, switches and gauges;and installing shells and cabinets of systems.
- Supervises outside vendors and contractors.
- Maintains the highest level of safety and understands that s/he may be exposed to the harmful effects of noxious fumes, chemicals, inadequate ventilation, excessive machine noises and high voltage equipment;and may work in confined or cramped spaces.
- Would Love to see: Refrigeration License, First Class Fireman's license

- Close to 2-3 years of progressively responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of building HVAC and mechanical systems.
- Responsible to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of humidification equipment, pumps and small internal combustion engine-driven.
- Safely and efficiently use hand and power tools, ladders, automated man lifts, shop and other equipment in the performance of the duties stated herein.
- Must be able to interact with equipment manufacturers and vendors to order parts, supplies and other material and coordinate activities with other tradespeople as required.
- Use a PC with appropriate software to maintain operations records.
- Read blueprints, plans, schematics, and single line diagrams as required in the performance of the duties stated herein.
