CNC Programmer/Machinist in a Tool Room with CAD/CAM skills (SolidWorks, GibbsCAM, Cimatron):
  • Typical hourly pay: $35 $40/hr (depending on experience, shop size, and complexity of work).
  • Higher rates ($40+/hr) can apply if 5-axis programming or aerospace-level work is expected.

Job Title: CNC Programmer/Machinist Tool Room

Summary:
Our client is seeking a CNC Programmer/Machinist to join their Tool Room team. This role is responsible for programming CNC Milling and turning machines to manufacture precision tooling, fixtures, and components. The position also supports troubleshooting machining issues and collaborates with Engineering and Tool Room staff to establish effective fabrication strategies.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
  • Program all Tool Room CNC machines;develop and maintain CNC programs using CAD/CAM software such as Cimatron, GibbsCAM, and SolidWorks.
  • Interpret blueprints and technical drawings;design, modify, fabricate, and repair tooling and fixtures, including machining prototype tools.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control and Engineering to verify tooling against specifications, identify areas for improvement, and troubleshoot machining issues.
  • Manage inventory, maintain equipment, and ensure a safe, organized work environment while working within budget and timelines.
  • Assist in selecting new machines as needed;serve as the subject matter expert on new Tool Room equipment.
  • Set up and operate CNC machines when required.
  • Maintain adherence to industry standards (e.G., AS9100) as directed.
  • Support a culture of safety, teamwork, and professionalism.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education, Skills & Experience:
  • High school diploma/GED required;vocational or trade school preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in CNC programming and machining, preferably in a Tool Room environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (Cimatron, GibbsCAM, SolidWorks).
  • Strong blueprint interpretation skills and working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Familiarity with multiple machining processes (milling, turning, EDM, grinding).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. And stand for extended periods.

Work Environment & Schedule:
  • Full-time, onsite position.
  • Standard schedule: Monday Thursday, 6: 00 AM 4: 30 PM (4x10).
  • Overtime available on Fridays/weekends, as required by workload.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Hourly Pay Range: $28 $38/hour, depending on experience.
